Mathew Moses is a vice president/principal and specialist in civil/structural engineering at Freese and Nichols, Inc. with more than 30 years of experience. He specializes in detailed inspections, analysis, and design of dams and water resources structures. His work with clients on dam safety and extending the life cycle of their facilities includes RCC dam design, hydraulic and structural design, finite element modeling, dam safety inspections, gate climbing inspections and analysis, site investigations, concrete structure rehabilitation, and construction supervision and management. He is one of Freese and Nichols’ technical experts in spillway gate design and repairs, dewatering systems for gate repairs, and gate hoist rehabilitation.

Janis Murphy, P.E.

Janis Murphy is an associate with Freese and Nichols, Inc., with more than 40 years of experience. She is one of the most reliable and diverse project managers in Texas for dam-related engineering projects. She is also one of Freese and Nichols’ senior project managers whose experience includes the study, design, and inspection of water resources-related structures. She has been the project manager and project engineer for numerous dam inspections, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and the preparation of emergency action plans for dams, as well as the rehabilitation design and construction management support for dozens of dams across Texas, with construction costs totaling more than $250 million. Her experience includes spillway gate inspection, replacement, and gate repairs, as well as gate hoist repairs.
