Inspection and Assessment of Dams: Seminar Details

Course Rates:

  • Member Rate: $850 on or before March 27/$900 after March 27
  • Non-Member Rate: $950 on or before March 27/$1,000 after March 27

Cancellation Policy:

To receive a refund, all cancellation requests must be received in writing on or before April 3, 2018. All refunds received on or before the cut off date will receive a full refund minus a $75 processing fee. After April 3, 2018 no refunds will be given.

PDH Information:

Attendees can earn up to 24 hours of classroom instruction including the optional evening session and the field trip. Note to New York State Licensed Engineers: This Technical Seminar is approved for credit to satisfy mandatory continuing education requirements for Professional Engineers licensed in New York State. Participants who complete the course and the assessment will receive a certificate for 19 professional development hours (PDHs).

Overnight Accommodations:

Courtyard Sacramento Cal Expo is offering attendees overnight accommodations at $149 per night. There are only a limited number of rooms available and the room cut-off date is 3/8/2018. Attendees may reserve their room online or call 1-800-972-1386 and refer to the group code AIAN. The reservation cut-off date is 3/8/2018 so please make reservations early.

The hotel also offers complimentary shuttle service within a 5-mile radius for in-house registered guests, Monday – Friday from 7 am - 7 pm.

Parking:

The hotel offers complimentary on-site parking.

Field Tour Information:

The third day of this seminar is an off-site field tour to two Sacramento area dams. At the first dam site, participants will have the opportunity to participate in an ROV inspection demonstration and to practice inspection techniques learned during the seminar. The second stop on the tour is Oroville Dam, where participants will be able to observe some of the reconstruction work being done to the principal and auxiliary spillways. Trip organizers from the California Department of Water Resources (DWR), have asked ASDSO to notify registrants of the following requirements:

  • Security protocol requires that tour participants provide the number and state of their US driver's license. Please add this information to your on-line or paper registration form.
  • Personal Protection Equipment is required. Please bring your own: hardhat, safety vest, safety glasses and sturdy work shoes or hiking boots.
  • Personal cars are not permitted on the Oroville dam site, all field trip participants will ride on the bus reserved for the ASDSO attendees.

Other info to help you prepare for the tour:

  • This will be a rain or shine event. Come prepared with umbrellas, rain jackets or ponchos.
  • All times on the itinerary are approximate and contingent on traffic and the duration of activities at each site.
  • Box lunches and sodas/bottled waters are provided and will be eaten mid-day on the bus during the drive between stops.
  • Bathroom facilities are available on the bus, and at the Oroville dam site.

This trip is being offered exclusively to registered seminar attendees. Field tour-only registrations will not be accepted.
