Request a Speaker for Your Classroom

What is the ASDSO Speakers Bureau?

The Speakers Bureau is a project of ASDSO's Committee on Education Outreach (CEO). Its primary aim is to attract university and secondary school students to careers in dam and levee engineering, but it also serves to increase public awareness of benefits and potential risks posed by dams and levees.

Speakers Bureau volunteers share their expertise on topics related to dams and levees. Their presentations are tailored to the audience, and range from a broad overview of dams and dam safety, including career opportunities, to more specific topics, depending on the request.

How can I request a speaker?

ASDSO maintains a standing list of volunteers, who may be contacted directly, and makes every effort to supply speakers on request of groups in all states. For assistance, please contact Brittany Lewis or call 859-550-2788.

How can I volunteer to be a speaker?

ASDSO members may contact info@damsafety.org. Please specify your name, affiliation, location, and special areas of interest or expertise.

What type of support does offer speakers?

ASDSO's Committee on Education Outreach (CEO) has developed a menu of Powerpoint presentations on general issues and career opportunities in dam safety that are available to Speakers Bureau volunteers. ASDSO also provides handouts and other take-aways for students.

Organizations may directly contact speakers on the following list. Please contact ASDSO if no volunteers from your area are listed or for additional assistance. We will make every effort to locate a speaker for your event.
