Overview: Seasoned Professional Engineer that serves as a high-level technical expert for a major department and is responsible for delivering engineering services and decisions that contribute to the success of one or more of the District's strategic programs. The District is seeking a seasoned professional engineer with experience and training in geotechnical engineering/dam safety and knowledgeable of USACE, FEMA and USDA policies regarding dam safety and shall assist the Dam Safety Program Manager with implementing and managing the Dam Safety Program for District reservoirs including, but not limited to, the design review; construction; startup; inspections; data monitoring and analysis; contract management as needed; and other items as identified. The position will require training of District staff in observing and reporting dam safety hazards, maintaining Emergency Action Plans and conducting training exercises, monitoring routine field inspection reports, monitoring the dam safety data management system for system generated alerts, diagnosing the cause of alerts, and working with the Dam Safety Program Manager in determining the appropriate response to such alerts. It shall require preparation of annual dam safety reports and working with the Dam Safety Program Manager to develop annual budgets for maintenance of the dams. In support of the Dam Safety Program, the incumbent may prepare/present or assist in presenting to management and multi-agencies groups/teams; keep abreast of new technologies and discipline specific trends, proactively apply new information/knowledge to all work assignments, and share such information as appropriate throughout the District.
Assistant State Dam Inspector

Overview: This is entry-level professional engineering work in the Maine State Dam Safety and Inspection Program. Overview: The Maine State Dam Safety Program urgently needs your expertise to oversee and ensure the safety of all dams under State regulation. Overview: The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation’s Water Resources Division Dam Safety Program is largely housed in two bureaus responsible for ensuring the safety of privately owned and state-owned dams. The primary purpose of this position is to provide emergency management expertise, direction, and leadership to these two bureaus. This position will apply state and federal emergency planning guidelines and instructions to all facilities; create and update Emergency Action Plans and Emergency Operations Plans for all facilities; plan and coordinate incident responses; and design and lead orientation, tabletop, and functional exercises. The Floodplain and Dam Safety Bureau administers the state’s Dam Safety Program, regulating the construction, operation, and maintenance of Montana’s dams to protect life and property. The State Water Projects Bureau owns and manages 21 water storage projects, consisting of 23 dams and 250 miles of canals, which also includes one 10-MW hydroelectric facility.
