HEC-RAS 2D: Instructors

Patrick Miles

As a member of FNI’s Water Resources Design Group, Patrick specializes in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for dam, levees, canals, spillways, and related structures for assessments, comprehensive reviews, rehabilitation design, Probable Maximum Flood analyses, breach analyses and levee certifications. His H&H modeling abilities include significant experience in HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS, SITES, FLOW3D, and his experience in HEC-RAS extends to all components of one-dimensional and two-dimensional flow, steady-state and unsteady flow scenarios, as well as utilizing corresponding GIS applications for model development, consequence assessment, and map production. Applications of these modeling efforts consist of the evaluation of existing dams, analysis of proposed dam modifications, assessment of spillway performance, and design of new dams and reservoirs, as well as flood hazard mapping in large river environments.

Grady Hillhouse

Grady Hillhouse is an engineer and project manager in Freese and Nichols’ Water Resources Design group specializing in heavy civil and waterway projects. He has served as project manager and design engineer on a wide variety of hydraulic structures including dam rehabilitations, outfall structures, and bank stabilizations. Grady’s expertise is in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, including storm hydrology, 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling, dam breach analysis, 3D computational fluid dynamics, gate operation plans, and flood damage assessment. He is also experienced in the development of construction contract documents and construction oversight for dams, drainage, waterway, and other heavy civil projects.
