ASDSO Resolution : Appreciation Resolution, in recognition of U.S. Senator Christopher Bond for Sponsorship of the National Dam Safety Act
WHEREAS, the regulation of the thousands of dams in the United States is essential to their safety and the safety of the downstream public, and
WHEREAS, strong dam safety programs at the state and federal levels must work together to ensure this safety, and
WHEREAS, these programs must be buttressed by federal legislation providing for leadership and resources to improve dam safety, and
WHEREAS, Senator Christopher Bond of Missouri sponsored the bill formalizing the National Dam Safety Program and recruited many co-sponsors in the Senate. His perseverance and relentless pursuit of this issue was successful and helped to see the National Dam Safety Act through to passage on the Senate floor,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Association of State Dam Safety Officials meeting in National Conference in Seattle, Washington this 10th day of September 1996, that appreciation is expressed to Senator Bond for all his efforts to advance dam safety.
