Abstract/Additional Information

Legal framework for the use of water resources including dam safety is discussed. This is done to ensure that dams and other structures in the river systems are not posing a threat to life, property or the environment. It was concluded that that the new Water Resources Act provides dam safety, classification of dams, internal control and five technical guidelines.
