Abstract/Additional Information
A study was performed to examine the nature and document the self-heating properties of the asphalt concrete, when affected by the various stresses inside the dam body, on possible fissures and cracks in the asphalt core. The cracks were assumed to be horizontal (transverse), induced by, for instance, an earthquake shaking or differential settlement in the dam. The resultant data were analyzed in detail.
