Abstract/Additional Information
CE News and Structural Engineer were merged into Civil + Structural Engineering Magazine.
Precipitation is the driving force behind hydrologic engineering. Unfortunately, precipitation in the form of rainfall is difficult to apply to engineering design. Storms are seemingly haphazard events that vary over time and space. One approach is to define an acceptable, single-event, "design storm" and to link the event to flooding and to acceptable risk.
