Digital Data Collection for Dam Inspections

State dam safety program responses to the following inquiry:

We have conducted a pilot project with regard to the use of a tablet to digitally collect data during a dam inspection. We used an app called Fulcrum (fulcrumapp.com) but are exploring other possibilities, such as USACE’s MICA app and ESRI’s ArcGIS Collector. I am curious as to what other states have done, what have they tried, what do they use, etc. As an example, I’ve had one senior consulting engineer tell me that his firm tested tablet-based collection and found it cumbersome and went back to paper... so we certainly welcome any feedback whether in favor of digital methods or not.
