Economic Benefit of State Dam Safety Programs

State dam safety program responses to the following inquiry: An attorney working for the partnership to draft proposed dam safety legislation in Alabama recently asked if ASDSO has “ any data on whether implementation of Dam Safety Programs in the various states has provided any economic benefit, e.g., reduced insurance premiums, increased development, etc. ” He feels that this type of information will be important in gaining support for a bill. While we can point to data about the benefits of dams and the fact that dam safety programs help to ensure those benefits, he is looking for more direct benefits as described in his question
