Abstract/Additional Information

Howard A. Hanson Dam on the Green River has undergone $15 million of work in the past year, but needs an additional $44 million worth of upgrades to lower its failure risk to acceptable standards. The leaking earthen dam is one of 12 USACE dams classified as unsafe and in "urgent and compelling" need of repairs and upgrades. A permanent fix could cost up to $500 million.
