Information Sharing

State dam safety program responses to the following request:

A work group consisting of members of the National Dam Safety Review Board and Dam Sector GCC/SCC is completing a project regarding the sharing of dam safety information. A white paper outlining the benefits of sharing and withholding information is nearing completion and the next phase is to complete a best practice document to help dam safety organizations and owners develop policies on sharing information. In order to complete such a document, the work group is gathering any written policies. Please provide the following information.
1. Does your State have a written policy on which or how dam safety information (Correspondence, plans, specifications, data, etc.) is shared with stakeholders (Stakeholders can include the general public, dam owners, consulting engineers, etc.)?
2. If your State does have a written policy, are you able to share that policy and if so, please provide a copy?
3. Does your State have any legislation specifically addressing either dam safety information or a more general category of sharing information that has the potential for restricted distribution for security reasons.
