Lake Drain Devices

Responses of state dam safety programs to the following questions:
1. Does your state require lake drain devices for regulated dams?
2. What are the minimum required sizes for lake drain devices in dams?
3. Do you have specific regulations/guidance on determining minimum/appropriate sizes?
4. Is the minimum size determined by a mandated/suggested timeframe to lower the lake a certain depth?
5. Does the drain need to be located at a lake depth to be able to drain the entire lake contents or maybe only ½ or 2/3 of the volume, etc.?
6. Does your state view lake drain devices for dams as being necessary for emergency response or only for maintenance purposes?
