Questions:
1. Does your state require lake drain devices for regulated dams?
2. For a newly constructed dam, does your state allow variance to waive the lake drain device requirements?
3. If the waiver is granted, does your state require a similar device to substitute the valley floor drain?
4. Is piping around the conduit less common now due to modernization in the dam safety engineering and design (i.e. moving away from CMP, using filters, etc.)?
5. Does the risk of piping around the conduit outweigh the benefit of being able to drawdown the reservoir?
