Abstract/Additional Information

The results of experiments on the scour due to an upwards inclined circular wall jet are presented. Outflow water jets with a velocity of 0.5-1.67 m/s at different angles of 0-208 using two pipes of 1 and 2 cm inner diameter were considered. The tailwater depth varied from 3 to 22 cm. The scour process due to horizontal and inclined wall jets is presented, and the effect of wall jet angle, tailwater depth and densimetric Froude number on the scour hole parameters is investigated. By using available data from different sources and considering the jet angle, new equations for estimation of scour parameters are developed.
