CE News and Structural Engineer were merged into Civil + Structural Engineering Magazine

In 1948, the U.S. Soil Conservation Service (now the NRCS) began a national flood and erosion control program that resulted in the construction of more than 11,000 dams in 47 states. Many of these formerly rural dams are now heavily utilized by communities, and many of them require upgrades to reduce potential risks to downstream homes and businesses that did not exist when the dams were built.
