Abstract/Additional Information

The laying of an 80 km pipeline by Rand Water, to connect the Rustenberg area onto the Rand Water Network, which is supported by water resources in Lesotho Highlands, is discussed. This laying down is part of a project to meet the increasing demand of water in the Ruttenburg area. The pipeline route will cross the Magaliesberg mountain range through a valley. The most urgent need for additional water from this scheme occurs in the Madibeng local municipalities area. To meet these demands the first phase of the scheme will entail laying a pipeline from the Rand Water's existing pipeline at Pelindaba to the Hartbeespoort Dam.
