Abstract/Additional Information

"The Ghatghar Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dams are an essential part of the 250 MW Ghatghar Hydro Electric Pumped Storage Scheme for hydropower generation. The project consists of three RCC dams that include the saddle dam, the upper dam, and the lower dam, all of which are built with roller compacted concrete. A lot of mobilization and careful planning was done for the construction of the safe and quality dams with expert help from the people who have worked on RCC projects. The biggest task was to design the layout, erect and commission aggregate crushing plants, RCC cooling system, and RCC production and delivery complex. The major equipment used for RCC placement comprised of double axle 20 t dump trucks, truck unloader, stacker conveyor, small double drum roller, high frequency needle vibrators, high pressure water blaster, and mechanical brooms. RCC is thereby the key for fast, efficient, economic, and high quality way of construction of dams of any size and numbers."
