State Policies on Hydraulic Fracturing
State dam safety program responses to the following inquiry: I have a policy paper on hydraulic fracturing operations in proximity to dams in Alberta, Canada, that would assess the current situation and provide some policy measures. In order to have a comprehensive overview of other jurisdictions I am wondering if you would have any knowledge of how individual states in the US regulate that issue and whether there are any no zones for hydraulic fracturing in proximity to dams in the US. I understand that on the federal level there is no such a regulation that will address it and on the state level I understand that in Texas and some other states the US Army Corps of Engineers implemented their own rules but other than that I have not seen any other regulation on this particular issue. I am wondering if you have any information that could help me in my policy work or share any knowledge on some regulations or rules that talk about the above mentioned question?
