Abstract/Additional Information
The structure of the dam break wave in a dry bed was experimentally studied. It was observed that large cylindrical vortices are formed at the bottom, emerge to the water surface and are escaped to air perpendicularly to the wave slope at a velocity exceeding the flow velocity. Vortices trap and transfer bottom soil.
