ASDSO's Technical Knowledge Base - A New Online Resource for the Dam Safety Industry

ABSTRACT ONLY - ASDSO is currently developing a new online Technical Knowledge Base. This wiki-style website will allow users to easily access current, state-of-the-practice guidance and resources on all aspects of dam engineering. The goals of the Technical Knowledge Base are to:
1. advance the industry toward the use of standard practices,
2. serve as a resource to educate and support regulators,
3. serve as an authoritative reference for regulators when providing comments on technical aspects of designs to less experienced consulting engineers,
4. serve as a resource for expert consultants who are submitting designs to regulators who may not have experience with the issue being addressed,
5. aid dam owners in identifying qualified engineers, and
6. serve as a mechanism for states to share tools and technical information with each other.
This presentation will provide an update on the project team's progress in developing the Technical Knowledge Base including a preview of the website's format and functionality. Plans for the rollout of the website and opportunities to get involved in the long-term expansion and maintenance of this exciting resource will also be shared.
