Dam Safety Maturity Matrices Version 2
The Dam Safety Maturity Matrices Version 2 (“the matrices”) have been developed for dam owners to assess the effectiveness of their dam safety programs against industry practice.
This manual describes how the matrices can be used and how to prepare and complete a dam safety program evaluation using the matrices. The current state of development (or maturity) of a dam safety program can be evaluated for each of its elements and sub-elements. If required, improvements to the program can be subsequently developed, prioritized and planned, and the process can be repeated later to determine if progress has been made.
The primary benefit from using the maturity matrix is expected to be the improved understanding of the dam safety program across the whole range of activities that influence its effectiveness.
User case study examples are provided of DSIG members from the US and Canada who have evaluated their dam safety program using the matrices.
This publication is an update to the CEATI publication "Using Maturity Matrices to Evaluate Dam Safety Programs" (T122700 #0234).
