EXTENDED ABSTRACT ONLY - Three generalized methods were tested to obtain the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) for the Island Lake Dams. The results obtained with these methods were compared, to select which one to use in defining the dam’s Inflow Design Flood (IDF), and, correspondingly, to determine if the spill capacity of the dam was adequate. The study showed that the selection of the most appropriate generalized method is greatly influenced by the size of the watershed being studied.
