Swiss Committee on Dams working group developed recommendations for dam operators regarding: (1) the assessment of dam spillways with regard to the hazard potential of floating debris, i.e. the amount of large wood in the catchment area, or the likelihood of dam spillway obstruction; (2) possible concepts for handling floating debris at dams (passage, or retention); (3) possibilities for inlet optimization as well as of possible operational measures.
