Abstract/Additional Information

ABSTRACT ONLY - Niricson Software partnered with a client in California to inspect a structure near Grass Valley, California. The team took advantage of California's record drought in October 2021 to collect LiDAR, Optical Imagery, Thermal Imagery, and Acoustic data from a concrete dam appurtenant structure. In this innovative project, the team developed an ultra-high-resolution 3D Digital Model of the structure at 1mm resolution, and is using artificial intelligence to automate the mapping and quantification of various damage (cracks, spalling) on the structure. The team is using this digital 3D model of the structure as a baseline model to compare against future surveys, to help dam safety teams prioritize attention and repair resources. Furthermore, the team is using this model as a baseline for a predictive model to predict future deterioration at the structure.
