Low Head Dams - Future Model State Program

Question 1: Does your state have an inventory of low head dams? If yes, please provide information on how to obtain this information or contact information where it can be requested.

Question 2: What agency has regulatory purview over low head dams in your state? If there is not one, please let us know.
Question 3: Does your state maintain a database or record of incidents at low head dams (drownings, rescues, injuries, near misses)? If yes, please provide information on how to obtain this information or contact information where it can be requested.
Question 4: Does your state have regulations or policies that require or advise owners to reduce the risk to public waterway users? Requirements may include erecting warning signs,
marking exclusion zones, installing barrier booms, fencing, etc. Please provide a link to a website or other reference to the applicable regulation or policy, if applicable.
Question 5: When or if a fatality occurs at a low head dam in your state, does the state dam safety program become involved? If yes, in what capacity?
