Abstract/Additional Information

As conditions within floodplains become more complex, decision-makers, dam and levee owners/operators, and communities around the U.S. will require greater access to an updated suite of programs and tools to help them effectively and consistently manage their infrastructure, make informed flood risk management decisions, and increase resiliency. Programs such as the National Dam Safety Program and the National Flood Insurance Program currently support this need by providing access to federal guidelines, mapping, funding, and timely data – all of which feed into a total flood risk picture for the Nation (Figure 1). Complimenting these existing federal programs is the new National Levee Safety Program.
