Stiles Reservoir Dam – No More Patches

To address decades worth of deficiencies at this 120 year old high hazard potential dam, its history of modifications, investigations and multiple repair efforts were critical to the development of the final rehabilitation of this structure. A solution which included stability and seepage improvements through the installation of a driven steel sheetpile cutoff wall, the reconstruction of a failed low-level outlet, and the installation of a secant cutoff wall to isolate the leakage path created by the open stone masonry matrix of the buried original downstream wall has enabled the reservoir to be returned to its historic operating levels and provide the Owner with a self-regulating structure that meets current design criteria.
