This trip will include a tour of Diamond Valley Lake Dams. This includes visiting the three dam sites located in the Winchester area in Riverside County. Diamond Valley Lake (DVL) is impounded by three embankment dams: the West, East, and Saddle dams. The West dam is 284 feet high and 8,300 feet long and is located on the west end of the reservoir. The East dam is 184 feet high and 10,900 feet long and is located on the east end of the reservoir. The Saddle dam is 129 feet high and 2,300 feet long and is located on the north side of the reservoir. Completed in 2000, DVL is the largest Metropolitan reservoir with a capacity of 810,000 acre-feet, which provides six months of emergency water storage south of the San Andreas Fault. DVL is supplied with a blend of Colorado River water from the Colorado River Aqueduct and State Water Project water from Northern California.

This is a full-day trip that will depart at 8:30 am and return at an estimated time of 5:00 pm. The registration fee includes transportation to and from the convention center along with lunch. All participants are required to ride the bus to and from the site.
