Tyler Coats is an associate in Schnabel’s Alpharetta, Georgia branch and has over 15 years of experience as a civil engineer with a significant majority of the time spent in dam engineering.  He has been involved in the hydraulic and structural analysis and design of dams throughout the southeast including several NRCS flood control structures. Tyler has managed or assisted in the preparation of over 40 NRCS dam assessment reports, as well as a number of supplemental watershed plan environmental documents. His experience includes spillway rehabilitation designs for over half a dozen NRCS dams which have included the use of vegetated, RCC-stepped, and labyrinth-crested auxiliary spillways. Tyler is a licensed professional engineer in Georgia, Alabama, and Arkansas.

J.R. Collins is a senior engineer and project manager with Schnabel Engineering. J.R. earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of New Hampshire and joined Schnabel’s dam engineering group in 2008 as a staff engineer in the Alpharetta, Georgia office. Since then, J.R. has been involved in numerous dam-related projects with Schnabel Engineering in varying capacities. J.R.’s experience involves the investigation, analysis, design, and construction of dams and spillway structures for both new dams and the rehabilitation of existing structures. J.R. recently served as the project manager for two supplemental watershed plan environmental assessments and has been involved with other NRCS-related projects over the course of his career.  J.R. is a licensed professional engineer in Georgia, Virginia, and Texas.
