The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is vitally concerned with the safety of all its dams and the well-being of the communities which could be impacted in the very unlikely event of a dam failure.
Since protection of people and property is the primary responsibility of government, state and local officials share this concern and responsibility.
The Federal Guidelines for Dam Safety require each dam owner to prepare and maintain emergency action plans (EAP) for each structure. These plans are necessary (a) to identify problems which could lead to dam failure, (b) to prevent failure, and (c) to minimize the extent and effects of a failure should it occur...
