Abstract/Additional Information

Abstract Only - Originally completed in 1931, the 148 foot (ft) high (45.1 meters [m]) Bagnell Dam was reinforced in 1982 with 277 vertical anchors; The installation of the new anchors in 2018 addressed the lack of corrosion protection on the previous 1982 anchors and provided the capability for re-stressing to verify capacity in the future. Bagnell Dam is on the Osage River in central Missouri forming the Lake of the Ozarks. Owned and operated by Ameren Missouri, it is Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) licensed with a capacity of 242.59 megawatts (MW).
The 2018 anchoring project consisted of the installation of a total of 67 post-tensioned anchors on the downstream face. This included 28 inclined anchors in the West Retaining Section (WRS), 33 inclined anchors in the overflow spillway section and six inclined and vertical anchors in East Retaining Section (ERS). The anchors were installed in accordance with the current 2014 PTI (Post-Tensioning Institute) Guidelines and Project Documents.
