Mr. Kappel is the president and chief meteorologist of Applied Weather Associates (AWA). Mr. Kappel has been the project manager for 100s of PMP studies world-wide since joining AWA 20 years ago. Mr. Kappel has also led numerous climate change analyses, precipitation frequency development, forensic meteorology cases, meteorological input parameters development for use in hydrologic model calibration/validation, reservoir inflow management/operations, and rain-on-snow calculations. He served as an on-air meteorologist for 10 years at various television stations prior to joining AWA. Mr. Kappel has been a guest instructor at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, guest lecturer for the Tailings Center and Mine Water Waste and Closure course, published numerous peer-reviewed articles on extreme rainfall, and provided presentations at numerous conferences on various meteorological topics.
