Job Title: Associate Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Englewood, CO

Job Description: W. W. Wheeler and Associates, Inc. (Wheeler) is seeking to hire an Associate  Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to work in our Englewood, Colorado office.  The ideal candidate would be a registered professional engineer (P.E.) with at least eight years of geotechnical engineering experience and at least five years experience with dam rehabilitation projects.  An M.S. in civil engineering specializing in geotechnical engineering or comparable experience is preferred and experience using SlopeW and SeepW is required.  This is a great opportunity to help develop an expanding geotechnical and dams engineering practice and there could be an opportunity for future management of the geotechnical engineering practice for the right candidate.      

Wheeler is a small, established, well-respected, family-oriented, water resources and geotechnical engineering firm.  An Associate Geotechnical Engineer is expected to be a self-starter who can supervise junior engineers and technicians and work with other project managers to complete geotechnical engineering projects and geotechnical work tasks for larger projects.  Duties will include performing and reviewing engineering analysis, designs, data review, field work, report writing, drawing preparation, proposal preparation or other duties as required to complete our work.

Job Title: Engineering Technician

Location: Englewood, CO

Job Description: W. W. Wheeler and Associates, Inc. (Wheeler) is seeking a full-time or part-time engineering technician for our Englewood, Colorado office.  Candidates should have an Associate of Applied Science degree or other comparable technical education or at least two years of engineering technician experience.  We are seeking a candidate with education or experience in at least two of the following technical areas and a willingness to learn and be trained to learn other technical skills:    

  • Drawing preparation or quantity calculations with AutoCAD or Civil 3D
  • Using GIS software to create maps, drawings and technical databases
  • Performing geotechnical laboratory or construction materials tests
  • Developing and updating water rights accounting spreadsheets
  • Performing water rights research
  • Performing routine IT operations and maintenance
  • Field data collection such as streamflow measurements
  • Construction observation and on-site materials testing
