Job duties will include inspecting and evaluating existing dams across Nebraska; reviewing engineering drawings and specifications; performing in-depth evaluations of existing dams with regards to hydrology, hydraulics, and structural stability using up-to-date techniques and design criteria; dam failure inundation mapping; dam hazard classification studies; and working with dam owners to improve the condition of their dams.

The Water Resources (WR) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill two Dam Safety Engineer positions Environmental Engineer 3 (annual salary: $75,120.00 - $101,052.00) and Environmental Engineer 5 (annual salary $82,896.00 - $111,552.00). These positions have optional locations in Seattle or Olympia. The EE2 in-training position provides up to three years to earn the Professional Engineering License. EE3 and EE5 positions serves as licensed Professional Engineers in the Dam Safety Office (DSO) in the Dam Safety within the Water Resources Program. This position protects public health and safety by ensuring that dams and other impounding structures are properly designed, constructed, operated, and maintained. Specifically, this position applies specialized expertise in surface water hydrologic and hydraulic engineering using a risk-based methodology. For more information, click here.
