Job Title: Dam Safety Engineer    

Location: Remote Position with approx. 30% travel within assigned region

Job Description: Central Rivers Power owns and operates 45 hydroelectric power plants with a combined installed capacity of 260 MW throughout the United States. We are seeking energetic and ambitious applicants qualified to apply for a regional dam safety engineer position. The position is remote but will cover a region we operate in, New York or New England Regions. Core duties and responsibilities include the following: (other duties may be assigned):       

•    Establish and maintain positive working relationships with FERC and all other key stakeholders by participating in meeting, calls, and project inspections

•    Assist in managing aspects of the Owner’s Dam Safety Program as directed, and Development of Dam Safety Procedures and Policies

•    Conducts and participates in various field inspections as owner/representative in Part 12 inspections (and Potential Failure Mode Analysis), annual in-house inspections, construction oversight, emergency inspections, etc.  

•    Assist in managing Central Rivers’ relationship with third-party engineering services in conjunction with the Owner’s Dam Safety Program, regulatory issues, and the Capex Plan by participating in meetings, calls, and project inspections  and reviewing submittals for quality and completeness and ensuring that they are filed on time with our respective regulatory agencies. This may include review of hydrologic, hydraulic, and stability analysis. 

•    Preparation of technical reports and documents.

•    Work to ensure that all Facilities have complete DSSMPs and in accordance with the FERC requirements and that all necessary inspections are performed as scheduled

•    Review DSSMP inspection results and instrumentation readings to evaluate the condition and health of the project and ensure that comprehensive DSSMRs are develop, reviewed and submitted in accordance with the FERC requirements

•    Develop and maintain all dam safety documents for the region including STID, EAP, DSSMP, and DSSMR ensuring that they are complete and current

•    Support in the Dam Safety response to any real-time dam safety events, including EAP activations and to participate preparations of the EAP including Orientation, Tabletop and Functional Exercises

•    Assists in the periodic trainings of hydro plant staff and with corporate-wide safety training seminar focused on dam safety.

•    Participate in the review of proposals, project schedules, budgets, and project milestones.
