Abstract/Additional Information

Big Tujunga Dam had been challenged by seismic and hydraulic concerns for more than 30 years. A 1975 study concluded that it was unable to resist seismic loading during a Maximum Credible Earthquake. In 1996, it was determined the structure could not handle MCE or PMF. LACDPW ultimately decided to fully rehabilitate the dam.
