Abstract/Additional Information
Many types of instrumentation systems are used for concrete dams, including systems that monitor water pressure, seepage, movements, vibration, temperature, stress, strain and other significant parameters. The various instrumentation systems used by USBR are described in this manual, intended for use by designers, engineers, instrument readers, dam operators, and dam safety personnel. The purpose and current usage of each type of system is discussed, and each system is described regarding its advantages and limitation. Installation, monitoring and data handling procedures for each system are outlined.
