Abstract/Additional Information

The Glens Falls Dam is located on the Hudson River in the City of Glens Falls and Village of South Glens Falls, New York. The dam impounds the Hudson River creating a headpond for the generation of 12. 7 MW of hydroelectric power for the Finch, Pruyn and Company, Inc. paper mill on the north bank and 15. 7 MW of hydroelectric power for the new South Glens Falls Hydroelectric Project on the south bank.
The redevelopment of the dam was undertaken as part of the construction of the new South Glens Falls Hydroelectric Facility by Adirondack Hydro Development Corporation. The Glens Falls Dam and South Glens Falls Hydro facility construction commenced in June 1 993 and was substantially completed in August 1994.
