Abstract/Additional Information

Grouting for dam and levee remediation is typically conducted in the natural foundation materials. In addition, even though the embankments must be penetrated by boreholes to provide access to the foundation, the embankments themselves may also be targeted for treatment. Three grouting techniques are most commonly involved, namely rock mass fissure grouting, void filling and jet grouting.
This paper describes best practices for each grouting technique, and highlights the real time instrumentation which should be employed as part of the QA/QC and Dam Safety Monitoring programs integral to contemporary practice.
