Abstract/Additional Information
The NCLS has adopted the vision of “an involved public and reliable levee systems working as part of an integrated approach to protect people and property from floods.” Strong state levee safety programs in all states are essential to achieving that vision. The NCLS recommends Congress swiftly address concerns regarding liability for harm due to levee-related flooding to help ensure state and local interest in developing levee safety programs and to prevent necessary levee repairs, rehabilitation, and National Flood Insurance Program accreditation from coming to a halt. 2 pp.
