Seismic Design of State IV Raising, Los Leones Dam, Chile

Describes dam's design and response during March 3, 1985 earthquake. Calibration studies were conducted in three phases: sensitivity analysis, geometric adjustment calibration, full model calibration. Includes charts and graphs showing maximum section of dam, finite difference model of the raised dam, base and crest motion during earthquake, spectral comparison between recorded and calculated crest motions, saturated zone near dam crest, calculated settlement at crest center, design earthquake acceleration response, shear stress and pore pressure response, and excess pore pressure contours.
