Abstract/Additional Information

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is moving towards risk-informed decision processes for all aspects of flood risk portfolio management, including levee design. This paper describes updates being made to Engineering Manual (EM) 1110-2-1913: Design, Construction and Evaluation of Levees, that incorporates the concept that the targeted performance of a flood risk mitigation structure will be related to the potential consequences and the likelihood of loading.
