ASDSO is excited to announce the Dam Safety Toolbox website launch at DamToolbox.org!
Through this new website, any professional can quickly build their knowledge of dam safety basics through resources curated by leaders in the industry. Users can explore dozens of existing pages on dam safety fundamentals, management, and technical topics.
Those ready to share their expertise will also find the website to be a useful tool. By logging in with an ASDSO membership account, the website’s wiki-based editing system can be utilized to expand the website into additional knowledge areas. Users can create new interconnected topic pages or improve existing content directly through the website. ASDSO’s team of moderators and subject matter experts routinely review these new edits for inclusion on the live site. Non-members may also suggest edits through a PDF form available on the website.
Ready to get started? Here are a few ways to get involved:
- Visit DamToolbox.org: The site is open to the public, and dozens of pages are already available.
- Log in and Submit an Edit: ASDSO members can log in to the Toolbox website using their existing member portal information. From there, contribute to the site's development by suggesting edits or new content. The website has numerous tools to assist with getting started as a contributor.
- Volunteer Through the Committee: The Dam Safety Toolbox Committee oversees the website. ASDSO members can volunteer through the committee as website moderators, subject matter experts, or study group members. Volunteers help develop content, review and approve edits, and help maintain long-term reliability. To volunteer or learn more, email [email protected].
Thank you to Gannett Fleming, ASDSO's contractor, for developing the website and initial content. Thanks to the many ASDSO volunteers who contributed through the Technical Knowledge Base Task Force, Dam Design and Construction Committee, and the website subcommittee. Lastly, thank you to the ASDSO membership for supporting this project through their dues and donations. ASDSO fully funded this project, and it would not have been possible without our member's ongoing support of the association.
