Randy Bass is a professional engineer and a graduate of Georgia Tech with a BCE (1972) and a MCE degree (1977). His career with dam engineering started in 1978 when he worked for seven years with the Georgia Safe Dams Program. He worked for Dames and Moore for seven years designing and building dams and, prior to joining Schnabel Engineering in 2004, was the water resources engineer with the Portland Cement Association. He is currently a senior consultant with Schnabel Engineering. He has participated in dam owner training workshops in three states, conducted two webinars for ASDSO, and was on the recent peer review team for the review of the US Army Corps of Engineers national dam safety program.
James R. Crowder, P.E.

Jimmy Crowder has nearly 30 years of experience in the design and construction of dams. Mr. Crowder is certified as a lead design engineer by the Georgia Safe Dams Program and has had significant involvement in the design and construction of reinforced concrete hydraulic structures at over 50 high hazard dams. These structures include more than 25 chute/overflow spillways, over 30 riser/intake structures, and numerous conduits through embankment dams.
Jonathan Dean, P.E.

Mr. Dean has nearly 20 years of experience in the evaluation and design of new dams and dam rehabilitations. Mr. Dean joined Schnabel Engineering in 2005 after graduating with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Auburn University. Throughout his career with Schnabel, Mr. Dean has been intimately involved in nearly all facets of dam engineering design and construction. Mr. Dean has extensive experience in dam inspections; hydrologic evaluations of watersheds; hydraulic analyses, including reservoir routings and dam breach inundation analyses; structural and hydraulic design of spillways and appurtenant structures; preparation of bidding documents; construction plans; and technical specifications. Mr. Dean has been involved in numerous dam rehabilitation projects that incorporated the design of structural spillways. Mr. Dean has experience in the design of reinforced concrete spillways, including labyrinth and piano key weirs, intake towers, outlet conduits, terminal structures, and retaining walls. Mr. Dean also has experience in the analysis and design of roller compacted concrete gravity dams and overtopping protection.
